Work - integrated learning (WIL) programs in Alberta combined classroom learning with real-world experience, offered through initiatives from post-secondary institutions. Many institutions have these programs and some may fit with your needs.

Work-Sharing Program

The Government of Canada's Work-Sharing Program helps employers avoid layoffs during temporary business slowdowns. By reducing employees' work hours and supplementing lost wages through Employment Insurance (EI), businesses can retain skilled staff while they recover. Alberta Youth Employment Incentive

Provide funds to employers who hire young people ages 15 - 24.

INCENTIVE AMOUNTS

  • $4,000 : For hiring one or two young workers for a combined total of at least 400 Hours

  • $7,500 : For hiring three to five young workers for a combined total of at least 750 hours

The Canada-Alberta Job Grant helps employers invest in their employees by providing funding for eligible training programs. Employers can receive financial support to upskill new or existing staff, helping businesses build a skilled workforce while reducing training costs.
